How it all began: Suggesting a mandate for nuclear TRIZniks on Fukushima - please forward

I'd like to express my sympathy and solidarity for the people in Japan concerning these tragedies from the earth-quake, from the tsunami and from the events at Fukushima.

Japans approaches to quality improvement have been my guiding star in industrial profession for almost 2 decades.

It hurts to recognize the enormous task ahead for Japan to cope with the nuclear tragedy today and tomorrow(s).

In this context may I suggest the following mandate, unless it hasn't been considered before?

I suggest that Japanese authorities ask for and that these characteristic people do offer help to Japanese authorities:

* voluntary TRIZ-masters,
* which are also experts in nuclear physics or nuclear technology (or at least have experience in this field),
* who are capable to put rivalry aside for quite a while.

Some illucidations.

The problems at Fukushima probably have never been faced and never been anticipated before. This situation can be called an inventive situation.

TRIZ is a discipline which teaches how to solve difficult or extremely difficult (inventive) situations in a fraction of common problem solving time. TRIZ-masters have several decades of practical knowledge in applying this discipline to concrete problems. By their mentality these people are willing and eager to share, to understand, to teach, to challenge and to solve. Very likely they will have a russian background, while TRIZ-masters developped in Japan as well.

Having TRIZ-knowledge available at critical crisis management teams may help multiplying skill of Japanese experts in a very focused way. This can help many people very practically, faster and longer lasting.

Additional people may also be necessary with excellent social skill, like translators, cultural mediators, team builder and the like.

To close I'd like to express my hope that this way we as world community may be able to avoid the mistakes that have been made in BP's recent disaster in the gulf at a deep-sea-level problem. To my understanding Fukushima has a much higher potential to bring harm to people and the ecosystem locally and world wide for generations of generations to come.

So, from a problem-solving point of view, please involve the best people we have available today. Nuclear TRIZniks can be the catalyst which may be badly needed.

Kind regards,
Michael Schlueter
